How to use Huawei 3Connect Software with other SIM card to connect to other mobile networks

The unlocked 3 branded huawei dongle still built in 3Connect utility software, you can use this software with other brand SIM card, such as O2 T-mobile Orange etc. You just need to create a new profile with your SIM card's APN.

These instructions will show you how to do this.

1. Install 3Connect software on your computer. Just plug the adapter in and the software will start to install automatically. Just follow the step-by-step to finish installation.

2. Insert your SIM card into dongle. I have got a contract O2 SIM card, and I will show you how to connect to O2 network, you can still use other brand SIM card. But before start, you need to get the APN (access point names) from your service provider if you are not sure. For example, my APN is mobile.o2.co.uk .

3. Now we connect the dongle with computer and open 3Connect software, your network will be found, but don't click connect yet:

Click - Settings - Advanced Settings

Double click and open 'Connections'

Click 'Add'

Input a connection name whatever you want, then click 'Proerties'

Input the APN from your service provider (my card is O2 contract SIM, so I input mobile.o2.co.uk, please input yours according to your SIM card type), then click OK.

Now we create a new profile, double click 'Profiles':

Click 'Add...'

Put a profile name, then add O2 connection  from 'available connects' to this profile, then click OK to confirm.

From 'Profiles' screen, don't forget to set your new connection as 'active' connection. (then you can delete 3 mobile connection if you want but not required), then click OK and go back to the main screen

Now we can click 'Click to Connect' and connect to O2 network.
